Following Fragmented Light, Vertical Time explores the release of grief, purification of intent and sustained inward focus in becoming both witness and participant, subject and object of irrevocable transformation. The images have a strong cinematic component; layers of meaning unfold to establish a visual vocabulary for the different stages of this process. Persephone, queen of the Underworld, surfaces as an unanticipated presence to become a powerful figure in the second segment of the trilogy.

Vertical Time was presented as a multisensory installation, a shift towards creating more immersive environments. The platinotypes, in accordance with the principles of sacred geometry formed a perfect circle hanging from silk threads from the ceiling. In an adjacent meditative space, images were projected on silk panels within echoes of spoken words of poems.
Persefoneia deepens the study of transformation through a different yet complementary medium, through writings and platinum prints. The conceptual focus is on the intriguing shift of roles held in balance by Persephone’s archetypes: maiden-wife, queen of the Underworld, daughter, and co-initiator to the Eleusinian mysteries.
Images from Vertical Time are projected on silk panels within echoes of spoken words of poems. The Persefoneia short film (created in collaboration with two video artists) was based on this body of work; the film was subsequently screened during the 54th International Thessaloniki Film Festival.
